A very big, meaningful, and sensitive word “JanmaBhumi” is picked up for the kukri which means “Motherland” in English – a name given to pay tribute to the country and its people that went through turmoil with the mega disasters in 2015 and to honor all the fellowmen who were the victim of it. “JanmaBhumi” khukuri is the inspiration and creation of the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that shattered the country which took more than 10,000 lives and also the unlawful blockade by the Indian govt. in borders that crippled the country and took us years backward economically and socially and not forgetting our precious time totally wasted. This khukuri is a motivating force and symbolic gesture that would always remind us of the dreadful year 2015 and how we endured, fought against it, and rose above the incident, and how we came out as a Better, Bigger, and Stronger nation. It is about the passionate love for the country, unwavering respect for the fellowmen, resolute and optimistic high spirit and attitude, desire and ability for prosperity, strength and honor from within and above all believing in yourself and doing it.

Its motive is to provoke the national feelings and remind how vital it is to be united, focused, resilient and vigilant as one country.

Blade and Handle: 刀片和握把
JanmaBhumi’s khukuri is inspired from the classic version where a broader, more curved and light weighed blade is hand forged. With accordance to its grand name, the historic and celebrated blades that are the pride of nation is chosen for this model. As its classic counterparts the blade is original, gentle, very handy, light and agile and has a full flat tang wooden handle with metal fixtures (bolster +butt). JanmaBhumi is the reproduced version of some of the very old models from 1800’s. It is made for use so will not disappoint even a harsh user and an extreme survivalist. The khukuri is full unpolished (blade + handle).

Sheath is the unique, appealing and powerful aspect of JanmaBhumi. Special care and attention, thoughts and skill have been put up for this. KHHI considering its grand name and noble purpose has tried to make the sheath look as authentic (simple) as possible yet having a class of its won. A special binding “V” shaped white metal chape is fixed in its tip for strength, style and striking look which is something not done in any other knives of KHHI. The unique chape gives an extraordinary and classic look and also status to the khukuri. Likewise the frog is the BEST part of the sheath that denotes the national flag and so does the nationalism. Nepal’s unique triangular flag with Sun and Moon is designed in the frog as clearly seen in the photos. The frog in the shape/style of the national flag adds value to the khukuri and signifies the patriotic feelings and spirit of fellowship. Similarly, “Cross khukuri” badge just below the frog is the iconic symbol that has always been a part of Nepal and its culture since generations that symbolizes power, status, culture, devotion and nationalism. The flared “V” tip, flagship frog, and the famous cross kukri badge all give JanmaBhumi a royal look that represents the undying love for the country, respect to fellow citizen and zeal to do something great.
