This Khukuri is put on KHHI’s shelf as a tribute to all Gurkhas who were and are in the front line risking their lives to protect freedom and humanity. We are proud to show our deep respect and gratitude to all those brave soldiers who gave their lives and willing to give their lives for a noble cause and a better tomorrow.

Name & Meaning  名称和含义

“Aayo Gurkhali” in native Nepalese means “Here come the Gurkhas”, the famous war cry of the Gurkhas. The legend says it all, the fearless Gurkhas used to charge upon their enemies screaming this rousing phrase in a typical Gurkhali style. It is believed to have been the enemies’ worst nightmare and comrades/battalion’s best possession/armor at the same time.
“Aayo Gurkhali” 在尼泊尔语中是“廓尔喀人来了”的意思，这是廓尔喀人著名的战斗口号。传说它说明了一切，无畏的廓尔喀人曾经用典型的廓尔喀风格呼喊着这句振奋人心的口号冲向敌人。据说这是敌人的最大噩梦，也是战友/营的最佳资产/盔甲。

The sheath of the khukuri is where the most attention is given to by the special maker. He does it beautifully through his special skill and years of experience. Two popular metals, Brass and Bronze, are skillfully collaborated to make the sheath attractive and to give a unique appeal. The arousing “Gurkha War Cry” figure in the center of the sheath is the main theme of the khukuri and hence the name. The figure depicts the legendary Gurkha posture in a battle field charging with a khukuri. This image has become a symbol of courage and victory of the fearless warriors. It is exquisitely done by hand with just basic tools and takes days to accomplish. Besides the major attraction of war cry figure there are many other supporting carvings all over the sheath. Portraits like peacock, sun, flower, mountain etc decorated on the back side of the sheath boost looks, elegance and worth.

The handle is also another important department in which extra time and effort are put by the craftsman. The maker uses the same materials and applies his expertise to adorn the handle to match up with the sheath. Brass and Bronze plates are nicely laid on the solid hilt and beautifully carved to give a fantastic look. Both the sheath and handle complement one another exceptionally well classing the khukuri as an exclusive piece of artistry designed for the who’s who of a society. Although the blade falls under the decoration category it can be freely used as one effective cutting knife. It is also well shaped and heat treated and hence a very efficient cutter.

The blade is also engraved with beautiful patterns replacing the traditional grooves to match the blade with the overall looks of the khukuri. The blade is fully functional and handmade, well heat treated, and made for any hard cutting tasks not just for display.

The blade is further engraved with the phrase, “Aayo Gurkhali” and the famous “War Cry” insignia (logo) of the Gurkhas as a dedication to the brave soldiers and also to recall their famous war action. to support the name and looks of the khukuri.  This will be done on request only by default the blade comes plain.

Stand : It includes a free vertical display stand as shown in the above image to showcase the khukuri in your shelf. the stand is also engraved to give matching looks to the khukuri.
