We explore ‘khukuri’, and now we believe our soul is half khukuri; We visit the offbeat villages in Nepal to understand more of the ‘khukuri culture’ where we find these unique names and shapes and see how amazingly they are used in their day to day life. We as a team are eager to give something new to all the khukuri lovers and fans. This time we found a new type of khukuri shape (blade profile) and are presenting it you all, its the ‘Sidhe’ meaning ‘straight’ in Nepali, ‘wal’ is added to the name to fancy the flow of kukrily term like the panwal, parowal, chirrawal , dorawal ,ganjuwal, guard-wal, etc. This is the first khukuri KHHI has released with a ‘SOJO’ blade profile, which again means straight.

There is no twist and frills in the blade as it’s a complete villagers version of the khukuri. They make a straight blade rather than more curve so that it becomes easy to cut and chop anything that comes inbetween. The blade is slightly curved (not too much) to make it look like a khukuri, but the objective here is to accomplish the task like a machete, hence nicknamed as the ‘Nepalese Machete’. The blade is made straight to accompany you where the heavily curved khukuri is par behind for the activities you desire.

The handle is also kept like the typical khukuri made from rosewood. Here we have made the full tang riveted handle, the wood scales are riveted on both sides of the tang for weight, balance, power, and durability. Its made for heavier tasks in contrast to the village version which are typically a rat tail version. We have used steel fixtures instead of brass which are more strong on the rough conditions.

Included Sheath is made from the combination of wood and leather, first the wooden planks are digged and cut into desired shape as per the khukuri; then its covered by treated buffalo leather and stitched together. Loop hole is attached at the bottom to tie and avoid the wobbling while carrying.

As the Sidhewal is purely intended for functional work Karda & Chakmak are discarded as to reduce both weight and price.

This is a overall 15 inch long village version knife intended for small physique and hand, in Nepalese standard. if you are used to using longer blades you can opt for 13 or 15 inch blade and longer handle version, which will exactly work like Machete. Sidhewal is fully functional blade intended to perform better during heavy and continuous chopping.
